Biography

Her career as musician began when she was 7 years old at the Elementary School Elila Mena, Dominican Republic, where she decided to dedicate all her energies and talent to the Flute. In 1997, she continued her studies in the National Conservatory of Music graduated 2003 as an Intermediate Level Teacher of Music.

She was part of the National System of Children and Youth Symphony Orchestras, participating in concerts and workshops offered by famous experts.In 1999, she received from the Organization of the United Nations for Education and Culture, UNESCO, the recognition of Artista por la paz by Federico Mayor. During 2004, as part of the group of outstanding students of the National Conservatory of Music as elected as instrumentalist by the Secretary of Culture of Dominican Republic.

On November 6th of 2004 graduated from the National Conservatory from the Dominican Republic with the title of Superior Level Teacher of Music. During 2005 she auditioned to study in Luter College, and received great honors for her outstanding performance in the entrance audition; she also auditioned for Michell Camilo Scholarship to study in Berklee College of Music, been the only woman to gladly and surprisingly received it among the other candidates for the scholarship.

She has been recognized by Berklee College of Music through all her career in Performance, having received the Spring Award during the last 3 years. In 2007, recognized for her excellence and musicality, as well as, with the Berklee College of Music Scholarship Terry Lyne Carrington. She has participated as soloist in many local and international Concerts, as in the National Symphony Orchestra, in the 62nd Anniversary of the National Conservatory of Music, and, in the Concert Suenos en Flauta. Also, as guest artist oin local prestigious companies advertising campaigns. Worldwide, she has performed as a soloist at International Concert for Women in United States; concerts together with Berklee College of Music Master Teachers in Ensembles and with other college music groups. In 2006, she participated in the tour "Roads to you" where she gain a recognition of the United States Congress. Also performed at the New England Conservatory in Boston, in Broadway Musicals at the Boston Conservatory, Christmas and Spring Concerts at Bayridge, Center of Cultural Activities, among others. She was invited, both in 2007 and 2008, by the famous American entrepreneur, Donald Trump, for the Conference of Successful Youth Talents, showing her great talent. She was also invited to perform together with other administrative of Berklee, in a promotional activity of a prestigious hotel in Boston. Her career as Musician has been complemented with a Career in Languages, speaking already 8 languages, such as: English, Italian, French, Portuguese, Greek, German and Spanish, her native language. In 2007, she was elected as part of a group of merited students of Berklee to study for one semester in the famous Nakas Conservatory of Atenas, Greece. She had a successful participation as soloist in the closing actitivity of the program; during that time, she was also invited to perform in concerts both in Greece and Germany.She was elected to participate as the second flute of the Harvard Symphonic Orchestra, having a great performance. ?

Sofia Ines performs different music styles, such as: contemporary music and Latino music; she has also played Celt music as member of a musical group of Berklee College and Boston College. She also plays jazz, pop, Brazilian and Dominican music, among other music styles. In her country, Dominican Republic, she has received some important awards and nominations by private and local government Institutions: Nominated in 2007 for the Casandra , the most prestigious music award of Dominican Republic, along with the great Dominican pianist and composer, Michell Camilo and with Aisha Sied. She was also nominated for the Youth National Award, Volando alto, together with Amelia Vega, Miss Universe 2004, Marcos Diaz, a world recognized Dominican Swimmer, and Zoe Saldana, an outstanding actress in Holywood, among others.

On January 29 th, she was invited by Teodros kyros to the national television program African ascent, where she perform several styles of music such as: jazz, Brazilian, Latin, classical and Celtic music.On January 31 she received award recognition by the most powerful authorities in the Dominican Republic, in the youth secretary state, for her outstanding student representation in the United States. She finished her studies at Berklee College of Music with a bachelor of arts in Performance, also she finished her Master degree at Longy School of Music.
